LAS VEGAS (AP) – The company and project leaders are estimating the costs of a spherical entertainment venue under construction on the Las Vegas Strip between $ 1.2 billion and $ 1.7 billion.

Madison Square Garden Co. President Andrew Lustgarten unveiled Tuesday the company's cost forecast and quarterly results.

The MSG Sphere stadium, with seating capacity of 18,000, is a partnership between MSG and Las Vegas Sands, owner of adjacent Venetian and Palazzo resorts.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal states that the company and the general contractor AECOM are negotiating a final cost.

That could be more than four times the $ 375 million needed to build the T-Mobile Arena, inaugurated in 2016 about 6.4 km from the Strip.

MSG Sphere is expected to open in 2021 with a large wraparound LED screen and immersive technology for the audience.
