The court decides that Sandy Hook's families can sue a gun maker using a rifle used to shoot

The highest court in Connecticut has opened the way for the families of nine victims of Sandy Hook Elementary School to sue for the marketing of the semi-automatic rifle that Adam Lanza used to kill.

The families argued that the manufacturer, distributor and vendor of the weapon negligently entrusted civilian consumers with an assault rifle that could only be used by military personnel and military personnel. Law enforcement and violating the Connecticut Act on unfair business practices through the sale or illicit marketing of the rifle.

The lawsuit, which ranks Bushmaster Firearms International as a defendant, has already overcome several years of legal obstacles before finally reaching the key decision on Thursday.
