HBO Game of Thrones completes its eighth and final season this Sunday, but what will the creators of the series do, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff do next? In addition to a new trilogy of Star Wars films for Disney, Weiss and Benioff are currently visiting studios looking for big "global" deals.
According to Deadline, Weiss and Benioff met up to six "big media companies" as part of new global "deals" covering television, film and streaming projects. HBO, Disney, Comcast, Netflix, Amazon and Apple are among the participants, according to Deadline.
Of course, Weiss and Benioff are already working in partnership with HBO and Disney for Game of Thrones and Star Wars, respectively, which could have an impact on the negotiations. According to Deadline, the duo is not trying to "rush into a decision". Given the massive success of Game of Thrones, it seems that Weiss and Benioff certainly have bargaining power.
Global offers can be very lucrative. For example, comedy legend Michael Schur would get $ 25 million a year to stay at NBC, while Gray's Anatomy creator, Shonda Rhimes, would receive $ 100 million for his global deal at Netflix.
In addition to the Star Wars series, whose debut feature is scheduled for release in 2022, Weiss and Benioff are working on HBO's controversial Confederate show.
