Andrew "AJ" Freund Jr. was reported missing by his father a week ago. An investigation increasingly focused on his parents, Andrew Freund Sr. and JoaAnn Cunningham, was then opened. They were charged this week with murder and sentenced to $ 5 million each.
The body of AJ was found in a shallow grave near Woodstock, officials said. According to court documents, JoAnn Cunnigham and Andrew Freund Sr. forced AJ to take a cold shower "for a long time", and the 5-year-old son was beaten several times, resulting in his death three days before his disappearance. .
The coroner officially identified the body as AJ's.
"An autopsy on Thursday resulted in the discovery of the cause of death as a cranio-cerebral injury following multiple blunt force injuries," a press release said.
