The dark mode of Twitter for Android is delayed

Last March, Twitter introduced Lights Out, a revised version of its native option in dark mode. Instead of the dark blue background with white text that he used with his dark mode, Lights Out features a dark black background and white text. Not only is dark black better than blue, but it also helps preserve the battery of phones with OLED displays. Indeed, these screens create the black color by disabling the appropriate pixels, thus reducing the demand for battery power.

The Lights Out feature was launched on iOS in March. To activate it, users go to Settings > Display and sound > Dark Mode> Illuminated. The old dark mode option with the blue background now calls "dim".

When Twitter announced Lights Out in March, it had not yet released a calendar for its appearance in the Android app. Last week, Twitter's vice president of design and research, Dantley Davis, sent a tweet (via Droid-Life) with an update of the Android version of Lights Out. Davis wrote: "The feature is coming soon, but has been delayed as we are working on improving the experience."
