The 27-year-old Brazilian had not participated in any of PSG's first four regular season games, following a saga of transfers involving his former club, Barcelona. The transfer window is closed on September 2nd.

On Saturday, fans whistled almost every time he touched the ball.

But in stoppage time, the star was applauded when he scored a goal candidate of the year with a bicycle kick that kissed the left post before hitting the goal. But even though some applauded, others booed the attacker.

PSG beat Strasbourg 1-0 to stay undefeated in the French league.

ESPN reported that the attacker had declared that he had no message for local supporters.

"I knew it would probably be difficult – if they want to scream at me, they are free to do it," he said, according to ESPN. "But they should not be focusing on me – the most important thing is the team – from now on I will play every home game as if he was away."

The Brazilian captain joined the French PSG from Barcelona in 2017, for a world record of 222 million euros (or 263 million USD at the time).

After a foot operation in March 2018, he missed the rest of the season and finished his first season in Paris with 28 goals in 30 games.

In 2018-2019, PSG won the title of French Ligue 1 champion for the second consecutive year, but his injuries again harmed the Neymar campaign. He has missed 18 games in all competitions, including the spectacular PSG outing of the Champions League at the hands of Manchester United.

The Brazilian striker also had to recover from an ankle injury that he suffered during a friendly match against Qatar last June. He did not participate in the triumphant Brazilian campaign of Copa America.
