L.A. County Medical Examiner, age 43 Stephanie Sherk died of anoxic encephalopathy, a disease in which the brain tissue is deprived of oxygen, resulting in loss of brain function.
Asphyxiation and drowning were cited as causes of death and Sherk's death was considered suicide. Her autopsy is complete and the model's body is ready to be picked up by her family for final preparations.
As we reported for the first time, Sherk was discovered at the bottom of the pool of his family by the famous Mexican-American actor on April 12th.
We are told that Sherk was heavy to keep his body at the bottom of the pool, and although the rescuers were able to resuscitate him and transport him to a local hospital, Sherk died 8 days later.
After revealing his death, the former star of "Weeds" said: "It was the saddest and most difficult time of our lives and we do not know how long it will take us to overcome this pain."
