The democratic debate of October will take place one evening

The National Democratic Committee intends to hold its fourth presidential primary debate one night in October, bringing together 12 qualified candidates.

"To respond to several inquiries we have received, we are writing to inform you that, pending a final decision after the certification deadline, the DNC and its media partners have Planning to hold the October debate, Tuesday, October 15, the same evening. A spokesman for the DNC told POLITICO that all candidates would participate in a debate that night. The news was first reported by CNN, which co-hosts the debate in Ohio with the New York Times.

So far, twelve candidates have qualified for the October debate: Joe Biden, Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg, Julian Castro, Tulsi Gabbard, Kalama Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Beto O Rourke , Bernie Sanders, Steyer Tom, Elizabeth Warren and Andrew Yang. Gabbard and Steyer missed the September debates but met the ballot criteria for the October edition of recent weeks.

No other candidate seems likely to qualify before the deadline. Applicants must receive 2% support in four DNC-approved ballots, as well as donations from 130,000 unique donors to participate in the debate.

After the debate in October, the thresholds will increase slightly, with the DNC raising the criteria to qualify for the November debate. Higher thresholds will jeopardize some of the candidates during the October debate, but they should not significantly reduce the number of candidates.
