The family of the Colorado woman, Shanann Watts, whose husband killed her and their two daughters, said in a recent interview with the prison that the murderer had revealed even more horrible details about the murders that they could have imagined.
"Our daughter saw her husband kill her," said Sandy Rzucek, Shanann's mother, during an interview broadcast on "Dr. Phil".
"It's worse than we thought, we thought the worst was what we had heard before," said Shanann's brother Frankie.
Christopher Watts, 33, pleaded guilty in November to the murder of Shanann, a pregnant woman, and her daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, last August and is currently serving three life sentences.
During an interview with the FBI, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Frederick Police Department on February 18, for five hours, Mr. Watts revealed brutal details regarding the day he had killed his family.
He told the investigators that Bella had entered his room after killing his wife and asked her what was wrong with Mom, according to a 31-page interview journal. He told them that his daughters were at the back of his truck for 45 minutes with their mother's body, while he was driving them to Anadarko Petroleum, where their bodies were eventually found.
He also said that he had first killed Celeste, had thrown the girl's body into an oil tank, and when he returned to his truck, Bella told him asked what had happened to her sister, then she asked him: CeCe? "
Bella "knew what was going on," says Frankie. "We were hoping it had happened in his sleep or something like that."
"I think the most difficult thing is to know that our granddaughter saw her sister die, and then begged her," Rzucek said.
"I do not know how much worse you can hear, burying their bodies in an eight-inch hole … what's worse?" she asked. "It's pretty sick."
The bodies of the girls were found immersed in oil and Shanann's body was found buried in a shallow grave on the property of Anadarko, where Watts was working.
The family said that she was haunted by thinking of the last moments of Shanann, Celeste and Bella. "I tell Frankie every day," I bet you scream for his Nonna and Uncle Frankie and Pop Pop, "Rzucek said.
Frankie said "know what they lived" keeps him awake at night and when he goes to sleep, he dreams of his sister and nieces.
