After setting an unwanted record at the box office, X-Men: Dark Phoenix Director Simon Kinberg has now come and accepted the blame.
The latest mutant blockbuster was supposed to provide an "epic conclusion" to the X Men series, with a cast including Sophie Turner, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence.
However, it soon became apparent that Dark Phoenix, in Kinberg's own words, "did not connect" with his target audience.

Talk to KCRWKim Masters Recently, Kinberg decided to raise his hand.
"It's clearly a movie that has not been connected to an audience that has not seen it," he said, "it has not been connected enough with an audience that has seen it, so it's for me.
"I loved doing the movie and the people I shot the film with."
At least he can consider the film production process as a positive experience, then?

Meanwhile, Kinberg had previously revealed to Digital Spy one of his regrets for his work on 2006 X-Men: The Final Clash – that he helped write.
"I really felt that one of the mistakes we had made with X-Men 3, which told in a way the Dark Phoenix story, but it was the sub-plot of this movie. One of the mistakes we made is not to make ourselves cosmic, like comics, "he said.
"I think it was a time in superhero movies where it just was not done."
X-Men: Dark Phoenix has been released in cinemas now.
