After having watched Spider-Man: in the SpiderverseI ran home and downloaded Miles Morales' cartoons on Marvel Unlimited because I did not want my time with the characters to end. The heart of the Ultimate Spider-Man comic cartoon is Miles Morales relationship with his best friend, a cartoonist geek named Ganke. After reading the comics, it's honestly the only thing I would have liked them to have included in the animated film. In an interview to promote the release of Spider-Man: in the Spider-Verse on home video, filmmakers Peter Ramsey, Bob Persichetti and Rodney Rothman I said that Ganke was their favorite part of the initial cut of the film, which was to last three hours, but he ended up in the editing room. And I learned that Pixar alum Pete Sohn was actually brought to express the character while he occupied a much more important place in the film.
For those who do not recognize this name, Sohn is a long-time Pixar animator who plays characters like Emile in Ratatouille and Squishy in University of monsters. He also inspired Russell from up and directed The good dinosaur.

Rodney Rothman: It will be really nice for people to see the stuff of Ganke and Miles. Ganke was Miles's roommate in the comics. Originally, we were very faithful to comics and this relationship existed before school. Yeah. It was almost the backbone of the movie, the relationship between these two types in some way. This is probably one of the reasons that no longer exists. But it was so charming and we had so much fun with it and it took so much film for so long that when we finally had to change the subject and cut it back, it was a Huge, um, that was kind of traumatic. So it's good that people can see a literal version of comics in an alternate universe.
Bob Persichetti: We also had very good … one of my college friends made the voice of Ganke.
Rodney Rothman: Also a madly famous animation director.
Bob Persichetti: Yeah. Yeah. He will not have any more trouble because we talked to people about Pixar, right? Pete Sohn, he's like a magic man, right. He went to Cal Arts when I went to Cal Arts. So, he came and he is a Korean American, from the Bronx, and is a big fan of comics and it is this character. And it's like, it's Pete who should make this character. And he went down, recorded all the movie and it's really, it's really good. But the film lasted three hours and Peter could not get into the movie.
So it was not because of Spiderman: Homecoming?
Bob Persichetti: You can read what you want, but yes, there were some similarities with Ned.
There was a lot of Ganke in the movie about 18 months ago, but when they borrowed so much of Ganke for Ned, we feared that the listeners think we were cheating Homecoming, so we simplified his story and l & # 39; We left for the next film.
