Jim Carrey: actor, actor, artist and, in the eyes of Benito Mussolini's granddaughter, "bastard".

Carrey, the rubber-haired comic strip famous for its small eyebrow dishes such as "Dumb and Dumber" and "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective", as well as critically acclaimed films like "Man on the Moon", it's found at the reception of a movie. Twitter Alessandra Mussolini's Twitter.

Why?

Carrey displayed his drawing of the Italian dictator and his mistress Clara Petacci being hanged upside down on a Milan square after their execution in 1945.

"If you wonder what fascism leads to, just ask Benito Mussolini and his mistress Claretta," wrote Carrey in a tweet posted on Saturday.

Mussolini, a member of the European Parliament and former Playboy cover model, fought back on Sunday.

"You're a bastard," she tweeted.

Several Carrey supporters quickly took up the defense of the performer, who recently revealed a harsh critic of President Donald Trump. When Mussolini was told, outraged, that her grandfather "had been fighting to liberate Europe from people like your grandfather," she replied, "Do you want applause?

However, Mussolini continued to attack Carrey on Twitter by suggesting that he's inspiring dark pages of American history by describing mushroom clouds, African-Americans attached to posts of flogging, Rosa Parks and signs "White only" on the buses.

Carrey did not bite at the hook (nor sent back a tweet from NBC News looking for comments). But Monday morning, 93,000 people had liked the photo of Carrey.

In the meantime, dozens of pro-Carrey supporters posted photos of US soldiers fighting against Fascist forces in Italy, including one who said his grandfather had seen the body of the dictator being hanged and that the photos in the possession of his family "look MUCH MUCH illustration of Jim here.

Mussolini, 56, is a far-right politician who has long defended his grandfather, a brutal dictator known as "Il Duce" (the ruler), who turned Italy into a Police state and who disastrously ally his country to Nazi Germany during the Second World War.

Eventually, with the allied forces following him, Mussolini and his mistress were arrested by Italian partisans while they were trying to flee to Switzerland. They were executed by gunfire and their bodies were then trucked to Milan, where they were hung upside down from the roof of a gas station.

The crowds of Jeering then threw stones at the corpses.

Mussolini also did not respond to a message from NBC News asking for comments. However, on her Twitter page, she often retweet Trump Tweets, including one as recent as Sunday.
