ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) – Robert Downey Jr. said that he had gone on a wild walk to Disneyland in his youth.

Among the personalities honored Friday by Disney Legends, the stars "Iron Man" and "Avengers: Endgame" said his first visit to the seaside resort of Southern California included a brief detention for "smoking pot in a gondola".

"I was taken to a surprisingly friendly treatment center, cautioned and referred to a very disappointed group chaperone, if memory serves," said Downey.

He became serious when he talked about Marvel movies.

"I can stay a fan of the first ever inclusive and evolving film world of all time," said Downey, whose character meets a dark destiny in "Avengers: Endgame."

Disney CEO Robert Iger presented the Legends trophy to the actor at the D23 Expo Disney Fan Rally. The company said it's paying tribute to those who have made a remarkable contribution to Disney's legacy.

Singer Christina Aguilera, actress Ming-Na Wen, journalists Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts as well as directors Jon Favreau and Kenny Ortega have received trophies.

Aguilera, who starred in "Reflection" from Disney's movie "Mulan," described it as "much cooler than a Grammy."

Wen thanked his mother for giving him the courage to live this "American dream".

The actress interpreted Mulan's role and joined the cast of Disney's upcoming streaming service "The Mandalorian".
