The driver cars Ric Ocasek died at 75

Ric Ocasek – The singer and leader of the rock band The Cars – is dead.

Police said Ocasek was discovered Sunday in his New York City home and declared dead, according to statements by an NYPD spokesman. We do not know for the moment how he could have died. He was found in his bed by his ex-wife, Paulina Porizkova.

Ocasek started The Cars in the '70s and became known with his 1978 song "Just What I Needed". They continued to produce a large number of hits, including "My Best Friend's Girl", "Good Times Roll", "Bye Bye Love" and many others.

Their first single in the Top 20, "Let's Go," is from their second album "Candy-O" in '79, followed by other hits such as "That's everything I can do, "" Double Life "and more. Their biggest hit to date, "Drive," peaked in # 3 on Billboard Hot 100 and also dominated the others.

The song featured prominently in the 1985 Live Aid event, where it was used as a background song in a montage depicting famine in Ethiopia.

The Cars were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year, where they met to perform at the Induction Ceremony.

Ocasek is survived by his five children. He was 75 years old.
