As the Eagles started their three-day rookie camp on Friday, Doug Pederson was answering questions for about 14 minutes.

"What do you think of these Sixers, no?" Pederson said as he made his way to the lectern. "Stay alive, seventh game, love it."

Here are some takeaways:

1. The health of Wentz

Doug Pederson did not want to talk too much about Carson Wentz's health or recovery from a back fatigue fracture on Friday morning. That's his answer when asked if Wentz would be ready for OTAs:

"How does this relate to the rookie minicamp?", He replied.

While Pederson would not definitely say if Wentz will be ready for the OTAs, which will begin May 21, he stated that Wentz had been on the field in the final training sessions of Phase 2. Pederson said that they would solve this problem when the OTA arrives, so stay tuned.

"Encouraged by his progress and his current position, we look forward to the next few weeks with him," Pederson said.

2. OT cross-training

Pederson was questioned about his offensive offensive surplus and whether he coached several players to play an offensive line inside. He said that they like to do this and hinted that the most obvious candidate for cross-training in the interior would be Halapoulivaati Vaitai. With Andre Dillard on the team, it's the most obvious way to make Big V even more useful.

From this exchange with the head coach, here's what to expect this spring and summer:

Big V: To train in the guard.

Jordan Mailata: To practice law, in addition to the LT

Andre Dillard: To learn the tack position, mainly LT, first

3. Veterinarians in front of the recruits

As this rookie camp keeps veterans away, veterinarians will be joining them as soon as May 21 at the NovaCare Complex for OTA.

Miles Sanders -> Jordan Howard

JJ Arcega-Whiteside -> Alshon Jeffery

It may seem strange and it is true, but veterans are expected to help the guys who might one day take their jobs. This is one of the strange aspects of professional sport. Pederson is eager to see the rookies get around these veterans. Although Howard is new here, we have seen Peters and Jeffery be ready to help younger players in recent years.

4. The quarterbacks

Two quarters of the camp are Clayton Thorson, fifth round pick, and Luis Perez, former AAF player. Pederson said that he could see some things from quarters in this very limited camp:

• How they control the caucus

• How well they take back the offense

• How well they throw the old pigskin

5. Objectives of the 3-day camp

Pederson outlined his goals for the three-day camp that runs until Sunday:

1. Get out in good health
2. See how the selection projects manage the schema
3. Start to see how to use these drives

Speaking of his health, Pederson had a black sleeve in his left leg after surgery on his left ankle. He said he was about 60%, but he ran like a normal from midfield.
