EXCLUSIVE: CBS ‘ The equalizer, after its highly publicized premiere after the Super Bowl, has suspended filming.
Sources said a positive Covid-19 test result was produced yesterday as part of the show’s stringent security protocols. Immediate contact tracing began as outlined in state / county guidelines and the NBCU production manual. Out of caution, the New Jersey-based production has asked those in close contact with the affected person to self-isolate and stop filming.
I hear the situation is being watched closely and it is not known how long the temporary shutdown will last. For now, filming has been interrupted for a few days and the production schedule is being adjusted to take this into account.
The first of The equalizer, headlined by Queen Latifah, drew 20.4 million spectators on Super Bowl Sunday. The series, whose filming was also impacted by the recent big snowstorm, will be transferred to its usual slot on Sunday at 8 p.m. this week.
Written by Andrew Marlowe and Terri Miller, Equalizer stars Queen Latifah as an enigmatic figure who uses her extensive skills to help those with nowhere to go. This is a new take on the character played by Edward Woodward in the original series and Denzel Washington in the movie franchise.
Marlowe and Miller produce alongside John Davis and John Fox of Davis Entertainment; Debra Martin Chase of Martin Chase Productions; Richard Lindheim, co-creator of the original Equalizer TV series; as well as Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere of Flavor Unit. Universal TV produced in association with CBS Studios.
The cast also includes Chris Noth, Lorraine Toussaint, Tory Kittles, Adam Goldberg, Liza Lapira and Laya DeLeon Hayes.
