Update

The Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library said Saturday that about 275 children and their parents had attended Drag Queen Story Hour.

The library published this statement as a result of the event:

"The Vansville Vanderburgh Municipal Library wishes to express its sincere thanks to all those who attended Drag Queen's Story Time at EVPL North Park.

In total, approximately 275 children and their tutors were able to experience Drag Queen Story Hour during several sessions. In addition, it is estimated that more than 150 children and their guardians have been turned back due to their ability to host.

In anticipation of a strong participation, EVPL North Park prepared a number of activities, books and crafts in the children's tower before and after the program and for those who were unable to attend the event.

Florintine Dawn, our interpreter Drag Queen, read The very hungry caterpillar, the brown bear, the brown bear, what do you see? and Good night moon. The children also danced on "The Hokey Pokey", "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" and "Dance in the Cold".

This event was designed to allow local families to engage their children's imagination, promote self-expression and explore differences.

At present, no additional Drag Queen Story Hour event is planned at EVPL. However, EVPL will evaluate the feedback to determine if similar events will occur in the future.
