The event of the spring storm of Overwatch is confirmed and a new possible hero teased

Blizzard has confirmed that his next Overwatch event is called Storm Rising. For the first time, a fictional newspaper clipping – published on the main Overwatch website – Storm Rising was confirmed by a tweet (visible below). The tweet reveals the story of Storm Rising and perhaps teases a future playable hero called Sojourn.

[[[[Update: Blizzard confirmed that Storm Rising was an event focused on a PvE story. The coop mode puts players in the role of Tracer, Genji, Winston or Mercy as they face Maximilian. Blizzard will also add more than 160 cosmetic items to Overwatch, including a number of skins. In addition to the new mode, two recurring cooperative event modes – Uprising and Retribution – will be readable for the duration of the event. No additional updates have been provided for the identity of Sojourn, however, so we do not know whether it will be a new playable character or simply a character. 39, a character from the background of the legend.]

The Havana Sun newspaper clipping is written in Spanish. An English translation is provided below. The article describes in detail the unknown takeover of Don Rumbotico, a popular distillery with a "controversial" history. Apparently, after the founders of Don Rumbotico, Clara and Basillo Diaz, refused to sell the Havana distillery to an "anonymous financial group", they faced repeated difficulties and eventually had to sell their business anyway. The article then states that Don Rumbotico is not the only icon of Havana to have been purchased by this mysterious group and ends with a weather warning indicating an impending storm. What all this means for Overwatch is not completely clear until the tracking tweet is also taken into account.

The tweet contains an audio recording decrypted for an archived mission briefing in the Overwatch team database. The message is addressed to Commander Morrison, indicating the date of the recording before the fall of Overwatch and the conversion of Morrison to Soldier: 76. The briefing reprimands Morrison for attempting to regain Doomfist, for pursuing the villain's accountant, Maximilian, and having them connected to Doomfist would prove a much easier task. The voice then indicates that Tracer will lead the team responsible for finding Maximilian, who will be joined by Winston, Genji and Mercy. The briefing ends with the voice that identifies itself as Sojourn.

The trailer ends with the rumor that Storm Rising will run from April 16 to May 6. Although Maximilian never appeared in the game, he has long been part of the Overwatch tradition as a board member of Doomfist's villainous group, Talon. Most likely, it is he who buys the local icons in Havana. Tracer and his team will try to investigate his assets under cover of the violent storm approaching the city. This story will probably be told during a four-person cooperative PvE mission. Blizzard has not confirmed this, but this style of narration has already been used in previous April events of Overwatch, Retribution and Uprising.

What is most convincing is the introduction of Sojourn, as it has never been mentioned before, but it looks like a person who has great authority within or over Overwatch. It remains to be seen if she will be a future playable hero, but it seems that she is playing an important role in the next event of limited duration.

Overwatch is available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
