Linebacker J.J. Mosley is expected to sign an $ 85 million five-year contract with the New York Jets, with a $ 51 million guarantee, sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Mosley, 26, was the top ranked NFL defensive tackle and was the most prominent free agent in the Baltimore Raven during the offseason. He is one of two players to have registered at least 500 tackles, eight sacks and eight interceptions since entering the NFL in 2014 (Luke Kuechly of Carolina is the other).
A first-round pick (17th overall) in 2014, Mosley competed in the Pro Bowl in four of his five NFL seasons, placing him in a selection. Seven of the eleven linebackers who have been named to the Pro Bowls at least four times in five seasons are in the Hall of Fame. Last year, Ray Lewis called Mosley the best linebacker of the game.
This is the first time in 23 years of the Ravens' history that they have failed to retain a multiple round pick choice of the Pro Bowl after his rookie contract. Offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden, Lewis, outside linebacker Peter Boulware, cornerback Chris McAlister, halfback Todd Heap, safety Ed Reed, linebacker Terrell Suggs and defensive tackle Haloti Ngata have all been signed for a second contract .
In one week, the top-ranked NFL defense has now lost both Mosley callers and security, Eric Weddle, as well as his most loyal player to Suggs. Mosley, Weddle and Suggs combined 460 starts in the NFL and 17 Pro Bowls.
His biggest blow against Mosley was his pass cover, but his interception of Baker Mayfield in the last regular season game earned Baltimore its first playoff spot in four years. He also posted career lows in the allowed passing yards (408), receiving yards (9.3) and yards after the shot (190), according to Pro Football Focus.
The Ravens and Mosley had both expressed optimism that he would stay with the team. Baltimore, however, chose not to use a $ 15 million franchise label, allowing Mosley to become a free agent.
Once Mosley left, the Ravens could replace him with Kenny Young, a fourth-round pick from a year ago, or a veteran freestyle player.
The 574 Mosley career strikers rank fifth in the history of the Ravens.
