An F-16 crashed on Thursday afternoon at the Air Force Base in Mars Reserve, hitting a warehouse just off the runway.

Major Perry Covington, a public affairs officer, said the building was on fire. The pilot was ejected and was healthy, Covington said.

No other injuries have been reported.

The unit performing this alerting mission from the Riverside base in California, was comprised of pilots and aircraft from units of the Air National Guard of California and the United States. South Dakota.

The pilot is from California Air National Guard's 144th Fighter Squadron and the aircraft is owned by the South Dakota Air National Guard in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
