NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WKRN) – A famous nightclub in Nashville where city leaders could mingle with professional athletes, Vanderbilt students and Music City songwriters suddenly closed Sunday night.
The Gold Rush Bar and Restaurant, near Elliston Place, had a prominent place in the area west of the Vandy campus since 1974.
"Nobody wants old Nashville for the moment," said Frank Hall, who was one of Gold Rush's leaders since 2003. "They want the new one.They want the progressive.They want fantasy. the brilliant. "
The restaurant was famous for what it called a roll of beans, but while retaining its signature dish, the Gold Rush was trying in various ways to attract new customers and retain fewer customers.
"We are old Nashville," said Hall. "You see that happening all over the city where old Nashville is going away."
Hall said the pedestrian traffic of people seen through the big windows of the bar had gone elsewhere, like the Gulch or the 12th district south of Nashville.
When asked if the sudden closure was permanent, Hall hinted that something else could be envisaged.
"You never say never," said the managing director of Gold Rush.
