The first Amazon Fire TV with an OLED display and integrated Alexa mics has arrived

Until then, TVs equipped with Amazon's Fire TV software (or even Roku OS for now) have been stuck on the LCD screen. But today, Amazon has announced that an OLED Fire TV Edition would be available soon, but not in the United States, unfortunately. The company has entered into a partnership with Grundig for the release of two versions of an OLED TV: one will have built-in far-field voice microphones for Alexa's hands-free control and, in case it scares you, the other would not include the pickups. (You will simply get the usual Alexa voice remote in which you hold down the button to issue commands.)

Are we ready for Alexa microphones in our TVs? We are still in the midst of controversy over the fact that strangers are listening to our recordings to improve Alexa's accuracy. This integrated approach may well be the beginning of a trend for other models of Fire TV Edition in the future. A button under the TV will turn off the microphones, which are built into the speaker below the TV. Grundig has confirmed that TVs use "latest generation" LG OLED displays with an extended color gamut and support HDR10 and Dolby Vision.

Grundig OLED Fire TV editions will be available in sizes 55 and 65 inches. You'll have to pay a bit more for remote pickups, with this model starting at $ 1,299.99 (about $ 1,433, shipped November 21), compared to $ 1,199.99 ($ 1,323) for the other, which will be shipped on October 28th. They feature Dolby Vision HDR and include a 10-speaker system that can output Dolby Atmos images. OLEDs will be available in Germany and Austria.

Grundig, which will also offer a number of less expensive Fire TV Edition LCD TVs (11 in total), is just one step in the news of Amazon's international projects. The company also announced a series of JVC brand 4K HDR HDR TVs, which will start at £ 349 (£ 384) and will be sold to Currys PC World and Currys PC World as a third-party seller on Amazon.co.uk. A specific release date for these is not yet available.

And the United States is not totally ignored. After launching its first edition 4K Fire TV compatible with Dolby Vision with Toshiba in June, Amazon is currently launching a larger version of this 65-inch set. Like the 55-inch TV, it will be available at Best Buy, BestBuy.com and Amazon stores (via Best Buy as a seller).

Fire TV Edition TVs have a software experience very similar to Fire TV Sticks and set-top boxes. But they are also optimized for live TV if you plug in an antenna; TVs automatically unwind a programming menu. And if you're a DVR type, you can buy the Fire TV Refast product (only in the United States) to record these OTA shows for later viewing or streaming live on your phone when you're not there. not at home.

Amazon is trying to incorporate Fire TV into your living room. In addition to these new Edition sets, IFA also announced the creation of an Anker soundbar including Fire TV software – very similar to that announced by Roku – and an updated Fire TV cube and Faster now supports Dolby Vision playback.
