The first heavyweight title defense Ryan Bader decided not to enter the contest

Bellator champion Ryan Bader entered the Bellator 226 cage in San Jose, California on Saturday night to defend his first heavyweight title for the first time. He did not lose his belt against his colleague Cheick Kongo, a veteran of the UFC, but he did not defend the belt either.

The fight seemed to go in the direction of Bader, while he was hitting Kongo with a few punches before finally getting a takedown. He put a heavy dose of powder on the ground before accidentally putting a finger in Kongo's eye.

The referee intervened and called the ring doctor to check Kongo's eye. When he was judged that he could not see, the fight was stopped and decided not to enter the contest.

After the fight, Kongo's teammate, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, battled against Bader, but the two men were separated before any significant altercation.
