The first marijuana processor for medical purposes in Ohio receives permission to operate

Muskingum County, Ohio – The State Department of Commerce has granted Ohio's first operating certificate to a medical marijuana processor, allowing for the processing of cannabis into edible products, tinctures, creams and more. products.

Grow Ohio, in Muskingum County, received its certificate Thursday. Commerce Department spokesman Kerry Francis said that 37 other interim licensees are using their operating certificates. The state plans to license two other processors, bringing the total to 40.

A spokesman for Grow Ohio said the company would operate from a 60,000-square-foot facility located outside of Zanesville.

Only buds are available for sale since the opening of the first state dispensaries in mid-January.

About 5,500 Ohioians have already purchased marijuana for medical purposes.
