Despite its initial promise of crowdfunding to publish its title on Steam, Mobius Digital announced that its first-person space exploration game, Outer Wilds, would now be exclusive to Epic Games Store. Mobius Digital will unveil additional platforms later, so we can expect the game to be available on Steam six or twelve months after its release on Epic Games Store.
As Mobius Digital has stated:
"Outer Wilds will first be released on XBox One and PC via Epic Games Store, with additional platforms coming soon. Rest assured that we read all your comments and that our goal is to bring the game to your favorite platform as quickly as possible. We will keep you informed of the latest information here. "
Mobius claimed that the partnership with Epic (as well as Microsoft and Annapurna Interactive) had helped make the game better and more accessible to anyone who would play it. In addition, these partnerships have been established to ensure that the small studio runs long enough for the game to be delivered to the current level of quality.
Outer Wilds is described as a first-person space exploration game in which you discover the mysteries of a solar system stuck in an endless time loop. Players will be able to fly into a totally physically simulated cosmos and travel smoothly from one planet to another, searching for hidden answers in the unknown.
