Ad Astra, a new sci-fi movie starring Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones, received its first trailer and a revised release date in the US on September 20th. The release of the film in the United Kingdom will take place two days earlier, on September 18th. The September release is the third revision of Ad Astra, which failed to meet its goals for January and May.
The film follows Pitt while he tries to find his father who disappeared while he was on a mission to discover extraterrestrial life. Meanwhile, Earth has begun to suffer from something called "surge", which may or may not have anything to do with Pitt's father's experiments with a "highly classified material" capable of destroying the solar system.
James Gray, the director of Ad Astra, previously worked with Pitt on The lost city of Z. Pitt originally had to play in the film, but ended up playing the role of executive producer after being removed from the role due to scheduling conflicts.
