The former Broncos CB Roby sign an agreement with Texans

The former Broncos halfback, Bradley Roby, told 9News in Denver that he intended to sign a one-year, $ 10 million deal with the Houston Texans.

He told 9News that he had refused a three-year offer from the Pittsburgh Steelers and a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers.

"It's a case of proving this," he told 9News. "I feel like I should go back [the market] while I am still young. "

He will replace cornerback Kevin Johnson, who was released by the team and signed with the Buffalo Bills this week. Texans will also lose safety / cornerback Kareem Jackson, who plans to sign a three-year contract with the Broncos.

Roby, 26, played a key role in the Broncos "No Fly Zone" in his first four seasons in the league. He saw his opportunity lose some value this season.

His 50 tackles last season were the second highest total of his career, but Roby struggled with consistency problems for much of the season. The difficulties may have been a loss in the fifth week when three New York Jets touchdowns – two overshoots and a quick one – largely came at the expense of Roby, a first-round pick (31st overall) in 2014.

The Broncos consistently treated Roby as a starter in the nickel and dime packages during his first four seasons with the team. The team thought so much about her job that she exchanged Aqib Talib before the 2018 season, convinced that Roby was ready to take the lead against Talib, Chris Harris Jr.

Roby played better in the second half of the 2018 season, but his efforts were publicly questioned by ESPN analyst Jason Witten in the final minutes of the Oakland Raiders defeat on Monday night.

After a Raiders ground run, Witten chose Roby at a replay by saying, "You never stop in the NFL," and added that coach Vance Joseph had to shoot Roby out of the match. Roby and Joseph challenged the characterization.

"For him to characterize me as a quitter, in my team, I have the impression that it is the most disrespectful thing that can be said in a sport. Team, "said Roby at the time. "… it was really a mistake.I thought the room was over.I was wrong. But for him, it drove me crazy."

Roby has had successes and moments in his young career that, according to many staff leaders, show a lot of potential. Among them: having made 64 tackles as a rookie, scored two touchdowns in 2016 and seven forced fumbles in career.

Jeff Legwold of ESPN contributed to this report.
