MEXICO, Mexico – A former winner of Miss Uruguay's election was found dead Thursday morning at a hotel in Mexico City, authorities said.

City prosecutors said that a Uruguayan woman had been found hanged in the bathroom of a guest room.

City officials confirmed that the victim had been identified as Fatimih Davila Sosa, who won the Uruguay competition in 2006.

Since then, she had apparently worked as a model. Officials said she had arrived in Mexico City on April 23 for an alleged job interview.

There was no official decision on the death.

The prosecutor's office said that an investigation into the homicide examined the circumstances surrounding the hanging and whether the woman had been killed or had been killed by someone else.
