The founder of Theranos, Elizabeth Holmes, would have simulated her voice to make her seem lower

Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes made headlines for a number of scandalous things she'd done when she was considered a Silicon Valley sensation, but some close to the old-fashioned CEO, dishonored, recently revealed that his stunts also included a modification of his voice to make it look less serious.

Holmes, 35, is featured in HBO's documentary "The Inventor: A Quest for Blood in Silicon Valley," which chronicles the rise and fall of his company, Theranos. His company claimed to have discovered a new method of blood testing that would allow them to perform dozens of tests with only a few droplets of blood.

The strange tone of Holmes 'voice was revealed after Professor Phyllis Gardner of Stanford told Radio ABC's podcast "The Dropout" that she remembered that Holmes' voice was superior at their first meeting.

"When she came to see me, she did not have a low voice," Gardner said. "The next time I saw her, she was at the board meeting of Harvard Medical School where she was introduced. She said in a low voice and I said to myself, "Oh my god."

Ana Arriola, a former employee of Theranos, confirmed the statement in the podcast, claiming that she and her colleagues had heard the CEO of the time "fall into silence."

"It was perhaps at one of the company's parties, and maybe she had too much to drink or not, but she fell into the trap and revealed that it was not necessarily his true voice, "said Arriola. "Maybe she needed to be more convincing to project a character into a room [venture capitalists]I'm not really sure. "

Arriola also noticed that Holmes' wardrobe had gone from "rustling Christmas sweaters" to black. She thought Holmes had changed her outfit to reflect Steve Jobs wearing a black turtleneck. However, Holmes told Glamor in 2015 that she has been wearing black turtlenecks since she was young.

"My mother had me in black turtlenecks when I was about eight years old," she said. "I'm probably 150 of them. [It’s] my uniform. It makes things easier, because every day you put the same thing without having to think about it, one less thing in your life. All my goal is on the job. I take it so seriously I'm sure it translates to the way I dress. "

The disappearance of Theranos began after a Wall Street Journal investigation, which revealed that the company's revolutionary technology was a sham. She used standard equipment for the vast majority of her blood tests. The FBI, the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission began investigating Theranos after the report. Theranos closed in September 2018 and Holmes was finally charged with "11 counts of criminal charges, including fraudulent wire and conspiracy," reported Vanity Fair.

Associated Press contributed to this report.
