MIAMI – Atlanta Braves left-handed Kevin Gausman was ejected in the second run for throwing a throw behind Marlins thrower Jose Urena, who was involved in a scrum between the teams last season.
Gausman's first shot at Urena was a 97 mph fastball that sailed behind the batter. Referee Marble Jeff Nelson immediately reported the ejection.
The match was the first for Urena against the Braves since he was suspended for six games for intentionally hitting Ronald Acuna Jr. of Atlanta on the arm with a throw in August, triggering a showdown.
