SCOTTSDALE, Ariz .– With one stroke of the pen on Sunday, the Giants determined their player position for opening night in Seattle.
Voltigeur LaMonte Wade Jr. was opted for Triple-A Sacramento, leaving the team with 13 positional players on the camp’s roster. Wade is a good bet to be with the big club at some point. The team is in the process of revamping the outfielder’s swing a bit, but it would be a primary consideration if needed. He’s 8-for-44 (.182) with two homers this spring after being acquired from the Twins.
“Lamont was as announced: he leads an excellent batting. He can play all three outfield positions, ”Kapler said. “I think it was a positive camp for him. He didn’t always get the best results, but the process was solid.
The team doesn’t have to finalize their roster until Thursday morning, so they may not be making any announcements by then.
