The Golden Globes set the 2020 date for the first ceremony

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced that the 2020 Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday, January 5th, the earliest date of the Globes.

As usual, the ceremony will be broadcast live on NBC and will be produced by Dick Clark Productions.

While the Globes show has been evolving steadily at the beginning of the year for decades, its debut date will be particularly important in 2020, as the Oscars will shift to February 9, which will be the first two-week Oscar show.

The Oscars decision will force many other distribution chains to change their usual schedule, but the Globes took place on the first Sunday of January in the last two years, an ideal position for the new accelerated and restricted rewards calendar.

The first two Golden Globes ceremonies were held at the end of January 1944 and 1945, but the show was moved in March 1946 and took place in February or March until 1973. At that time there he settled in January to stay there, moving regularly months while the Oscars went from March and April to February.
