The golden statue of Trump is CPAC’s speech. It was made in Mexico.

A golden statue of former President Donald Trump has become the speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando. CNN, for example, calls the six-foot-tall statue the “undisputed star” of the conference. The statue has Trump dressed in a suit jacket with a white shirt and red tie as well as American flag shorts. Trump also wears sandals and holds a magic wand, a reference to how former President Barack Obama once said Trump didn’t have a magic wand to bring manufacturing jobs back to the United States.

“He’s wearing a suit because he’s a businessman. The red tie represents the Republican Party, the red white and blue shorts represent the fact that he is a patriot, ”artist Tommy Zegan told the New York Post. Sandals are how Zegan chose to portray that Trump was in his heyday and could be “on the beach” if he wanted to.

Zegan told Politico that the fiberglass statue was made in Mexico over a six-month period at the resort town of Rosarito. He then took him to Tampa, where he was painted chrome, then got a U-Haul to transport him to CPAC. “If someone offered me $ 100,000, I would take it,” Zegan said.

The statue that turns heads at CPAC is actually just an appetizer for the real thing. This is the fiberglass mold of the stainless steel sculpture that Zegan stored in Tampa. Making this statue cost him his “life savings” of $ 50,000. He apparently wants to sell that one for over a million bucks, but if he can’t sell it, he wants it to go to Trump’s presidential library. “It’s museum-grade, and it’s the one I hope to eventually find in the Trump Library,” Zegan told CNN. “It is literally priceless.”

Many on Twitter were quick to recall the story of the Golden Calf in the Old Testament that angered Moses. “Idol worship is not conservative. #RestoreOurGop, ”Representative Adam Kinzinger, who was one of 10 House Republicans to vote for Trump’s impeachment, written on twitter. Zegan rejected the comparison. “She’s not an idol,” Zegan said. “I know the biblical definition of an idol. He’s not an idol. It is a sculpture.

Trump will speak at CPAC on Sunday, but he has already been the subject of the Conservative conference, making it clear that the former president remains a powerful force. “Let me tell you something: Donald Trump is not going anywhere,” Senator Ted Cruz said.
