"The greatest president since Abraham Lincoln"

Actor Oscar Voice, Jon Voight, posted a pair of videos on Twitter on Friday night, in which he made a monologue praising President Trump, proclaiming him "the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln" .

"People of the Republican Party, I know you will agree with me when I say that our President has our greatest respect and our love," began Voight. "This work is not easy because it fights against the left and their absurd words of destruction."

Much of the language recalls a similar rhetorical style used by the president. Voight said the country was safer and had "more jobs" because of President Trump's actions. Echoing a similar sense of hyperbole frequently used by the White House, Voight asserted that Trump's "every move" had been played correctly.

"Do not be fooled by the political left," warns Voight in a serious voice. "Because we are the people of this nation who witness the triumph.

The actor, father of actress Angelina Jolie, made it known after his Oscar tour alongside Dustin Hoffman in 1969 Midnight Cowboy. While Voight has been working regularly for over five decades, he is best known for his roles in the 1970s and '80s, playing in classic films such as deliverance and Go home, for which he won an Oscar for Best Actor. He has also appeared more recently on television in hit series such as Showtime Ray Donovan. Betraying a more liberal trend during his early years, Voight was for most of his life a convinced conservative and public supporter of Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign.

In March 2016, while many Conservatives were still reluctant to back Donald Trump's candidacy, Voight issued a statement to Breitbart making no bone of his position.

"I, Jon Voight, can say without hesitation that Donald is funny, playful and colorful, but he is above all honest," reads the statement. "I pray to all Americans who have seen and felt the collapse of America with the Obama years to kindly fight for Donald Trump. He will not let us down.

Voight is part of a handful of actors who publicly support the president, including Roseanne Barr and Scott Baio.

Entitled "To My American Compatriots", Voight's soliloquy on Twitter had no obvious apparent cause, though Voight's exhortations unfold in an unfavorable political context for the president. In recent days, President Trump would have left the meeting with congressional Democratic leaders on infrastructure at the White House, and then asked his aides to testify affirming his neutral temper. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was shocked to say that she was praying for the president and the country.

Responding on Twitter, Donald Trump thanked Pelosi for his prayers.

"I know you really think so," he writes.

Voight finished his video stating that Trump "is the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln."

"God bless America and God continue to guide this nation. A lot of love, "he concluded.
