The group walked in uniform from the stadium to its University of Florida spokesman Steve Orlando told CNN, according to the director's story, that buses would follow the match when a Miami fan tries to cross the line of students in the group.

It was at that point that group director, Jay Watkins, said that he had stretched out his arm to stop him and that another person had caught him from behind in a choke and threw him on the sidewalk, Orlando said.

"Jay had bumps and scratches in his head and elbow," said Orlando. The director was doing "OK" Sunday, the spokesman added.

No students were injured and a report was filed with the Orlando Police Department, Orlando said, but no arrests were made.

Orlando police told CNN affiliate WKMG that the department was investigating the incident and could disclose further information on Monday. No charges had been filed Sunday night, said the subsidiary.
Watkins has been the director of the UF Gator fanfare since 2006.
