Warning! The following contains spoilers for the Avengers: Endgame. Read at your own risk!
Avengers: End of the gameThe battle sequence at the end was massive. So massive, that if an unexpected character came to help, many spectators could have missed it. Fortunately, there are some who have caught a completely unexpected problem Guardians of the Galaxy cameo, as a character from the movie appeared to lend a hand in the time of the Avengers. Howard the Duck, among all peoples, has come forward to fight for the world alongside the most powerful heroes of the universe.
For those who will attend another performance in the near future, Howard can be seen among the many warriors who come forward when Dr. Strange, Wong and the rest of the wizards begin to open portals. When Hope Van Dyne is spotted, viewers must move their eyes to the bluish alien located to his right and then follow that character's weapon down. There is Howard, in the distance, who looks a lot like his cameo scene that follows Guardians of the Galaxy.
Howard has accumulated heat instead of having a drink this time and he is about to kick the invader's ass of the Earth when the signal is given. His contributions beyond this are unknown because he does not get a big action sequence that shows what he is willing to like like the other main characters in the Marvel film universe. Apparently, the Russo did not find it relevant to focus on one of the weirdest characters in the MCU.
Here is the good news: it is still possible that we learn the role played by Howard in the battle. All this thanks to Howard The Duck's upcoming television series, which will feature the Marvel hero trapped on Earth. Provided that this series takes place afterAvengers: End of the game, the series certainly has the opportunity to show this scene from Howard's point of view or to ask him to remember something of the event. Hell, it is perhaps even the event that awaits you on earth!
Whatever the case regarding the upcoming series, we know that the Russo wanted to include Howard in the action since Avengers: war in the infinite. According to Joe Russo, the original idea was that Peter Quill go to Howard to ask him where is an Infinity stone while he was playing poker. It would have been great to see, although it could be said that it's better.
The real question now is: what was Howard The Duck doing before he arrived? The Russo confirmed that he had survived the breakdown. So there could be a scene or a plan removed in the future, describing what Howard was doing in the period between War of Infinity and End of Game. If not, at least it feels good to see him alongside the good guys, and eventually defend his case to become a future Avenger?
