It was at this point that the fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale premieres on Hulu and June (Elisabeth moss) is now waging a war against Gilead after his escape. The trailer promises an intense war ahead, and the description of the season indicates that June’s fight gets extremely personal.
“June retaliates against Gilead as a fierce rebel leader, but the risks she takes bring her unexpected and dangerous new challenges,” the Hulu logline read. “Her quest for justice and revenge threatens to consume her and destroy her dearest relationships.”
During a TV Critics Association virtual panel on Thursday, Moss teased that June and Evil Aunt Lydia (Ann dowd) both seek power “in very different ways and with different purposes”. The season will explore what “real power” means, depending on who has it.
Showrunner Bruce miller explained that Lydia is “obsessed” with June, and while these two women are enemies, they are also “inextricably linked”, and that is playing out this season.
