The West Virginia coal tycoon, Chris Cline, took his 22-year-old daughter to a Florida hospital for a medical emergency when their helicopter plunged into the Bahamas Sea, according to a report.

22-year-old Kameron Cline began experiencing an unspecified medical problem while attending her father's birthday party on her private island near Grand Cay, a friend of the family told WPBF on Friday. Lauree Simmons.

Relatives called the authorities when the helicopter could not get to Fort Lauderdale, said Friday at Del Palm Major, head of the Bahamas Air Accident Investigation Department, at Palm Beach Post.

A major Republican donor worth $ 1.8 billion, according to Forbes, Cline was aboard the helicopter with Kameron and several of his friends when he fell into the Atlantic Ocean just minutes after taking off, around 2 o'clock in the morning.

Cline, who began working in the West Virginia mines at the age of 15 before creating his own empire, died the day before his 61st birthday.

The wreckage was discovered on the ocean floor about two miles from the coast of the private island of Cline.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. Meteorologists have said that the weather is not a factor.
