The High Court will not accept the dispute involving Bill Cosby

WASHINGTON (AP) – The Supreme Court refuses to reinstate a defamation suit against Bill Cosby by a woman who claims to have raped her and then spreads lies about her when she came forward.

The High Court on Tuesday dismissed a call from actress Kathrine McKee, claiming that Cosby had raped her in 1974. McKee had sued Cosby for damaging her reputation after the attorney's attorney comedian allegedly leaked a letter attacking McKee. Two lower courts ruled against it and filed the case.

Judge Clarence Thomas subscribed to the action of the Supreme Court, but asked the court to re-examine the very high standard that a public figure must respect to win a libel suit. This norm was stated in the historical case New York Times v. Sullivan in 1964.
