Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi announced that the House would vote next week on criminal contempt quotes against Attorney General William Barr and Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross.
The House Oversight and Reform Committee brought charges of contempt of court last month after Barr and Ross failed to comply with the subpoenas requested by the committee's chair, Elijah Cummings, Maryland.
Democrats and the Trump administration are fighting over Trump's desire to include a citizenship issue in the 2020 census.
The Supreme Court ruled that the issue could not be included, but Trump pledged to take executive action to bypass the high court.
The House led by the Democrats is likely to endorse the quotes of contempt against the two men. The citations would be returned to the Ministry of Justice, where they may be rejected.
