Was Game of Thrones' Season 8 of Thought following the predictable path leading to a showdown at King's Landing? Think again. While these images from Season 8 of Game of Thrones episode 5 feature familiar faces – especially Dany who seems particularly exhausted after last week's traumatic death – there is still some that you may not recognize it as a potentially huge obstacle to Jon Snow, the mother of the dragons, and what remains of his strength.
Say hello to Harry Strickland. He briefly appeared in Season 8 of Game of Thrones, where he was introduced to the head of the Golden Company, the key words that promised to pledge allegiance to Cersei and Euron. It is finally proving its value, if this new image deserves to be surpassed – and could be the only thing between Dany and Cersei. Could we consider a generic end-of-game card to get things moving?
Elsewhere, everyone looks very pensive after The Last of the Starks has made us all into a mess full of tears. Jon Snow and Varys take stock of the shores of Dragonstone, while Tyrion and Gray Worm seem to be pained by Khaleesi's audience in the throne room.
But I'm ahead of myself. Chronologically, things (and that could be a semi-spoiler, so look away now) were clearly unfinished at the gates of King's Landing last week. Jon, Tyrion, and Davos neglect their army, but of course we now know their U-turn and we return to Dragonstone alongside the Dragonmother, who seems equally moved by the deaths of Missandei and Rhaegal.
The good ones do not understand all promo shots though. Euron seems particularly puzzled by what is above him (a second dragon attack, perhaps?) And, of course, Cersei has the last word. Or should it be a smile? She looks very satisfied with herself and has the mountain at her side. Could we look at the Game of Thrones winner – all thanks to her last minute ploy to get the Golden Company by her side? Do not bet against that.
