Judge Angie Juarez Barill has been given the case of suspected criminal suspect Patrick Crusius. She requested that the case be reassigned or transferred to another judge because she knew one of the deceased's family members and that she was running as Chief Justice. of the 8th court of appeal, said the district court of El Paso in a statement.

As his current term of office will not be re-elected, his term ends in December 2020. "A case of this magnitude should start with a judge who can be reasonably sure of carrying it out," she said.

Crusius, 21, of Allen, Texas, was charged with aggravated murder in the August 3 massacre, which claimed the lives of 22 people and left more than 20 injured. He is detained without commitment.

While he cooperated, he showed no remorse for the shooting, the police said.

Before the massacre, Crusius would have drafted a racist anti-immigrant document exposing a bleak vision of America invaded by Hispanic immigrants.

The four-page document titled "The Inconvenient Truth" was posted on the 8chan online bulletin board about 20 minutes before the start of filming. It is filled with white supremacist language and racist hatred aimed at immigrants and Latinos, and the author claims that he encourages immigrants to return to their home country.

District Attorney Jaime Esparza intends to seek the death penalty against him.
