Allie Long, American women's football champion, said Thursday that a person had entered her hotel room while she was celebrating her historic World Cup victory. The thief had stolen her wedding ring, some money and the key to New York that she had just received.

The US women's football team held Wednesday a day of celebration after winning its fourth World Cup trophy. The day began in New York City, where the team was honored with a parade of moving bands where thousands of fans gathered in the streets of Lower Manhattan to celebrate the victory. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio gave each member of the team a key to the city.

The team then flew to Los Angeles, where they received the best team award at the 2019 ESPY Awards.

But on Thursday, Long tweeted that after the ESPY show, a person had stolen his wedding ring, his money and "the key to my favorite city" in his hotel room.

"Do you make copies @NYCMayor," she writes. "I'd love a new one."

After the @ESPYS show, someone stole my wedding ring, money and the key to my favorite city after receiving it from my hotel room. Do you make copies @NYCMayor? I would like a new one.

A long time later, a photo was posted on Instagram titling: "Take my ring but not my man (or my medal, thank God)".

Police officials told The Los Angeles Times that a person had entered Long's room at the Ritz Carlton on Olympic Boulevard between 9pm and 10pm.

No arrests were made, the police said.

From Blasio responded on Long's tweet saying that the city will replace the key.

"Sorry to hear, Allie, hang in. Do not worry about the key, like all good New Yorkers, we're keeping out for our neighbors, we're covering you up," he tweeted.
