The PlayStation 4 version of The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match is now available through PlayStation Store for $ 14.99 / € 14.99, publisher SNK and developer Code Mystics have announced. A physical edition will launch this spring for $ 24.99 / € 34.90.

As a fully edited sequel to the critically acclaimed 2009 film The King of Fighters 2002, The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match will include a host of new features on PlayStation 4, including a larger roster of 66 playable characters, a graphical overhaul and redesigned abilities. The online functionality of the game is much smoother this time around thanks to the addition of the restore netcode.
Online features
- Restore Netcode – The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match features an updated restore netcode that significantly reduces online lag during matches. Players can change the settings to improve their online experiences.
- Online quality of life and features – The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match includes online features that allow players to study their matches and learn from their mistakes. These include the ability to review one’s 10 most recent online matches, options that allow win / loss counters, and cooldowns to prevent a rematch after a quick fight.
- Two unique online modes – Choose between “Ranking Match”, where battle results are shared and ranked online, and “Player Match”, where fans can set their own battle settings. Fight to become the real king of gamers on the international stage! The world is yours!
Fully optimized
- Stunning roster of 66 playable characters – In addition to the original cast of The King of Fighters 2002, a host of returning characters from previous episodes of “The Nests Chronicles”, hidden characters and an exclusive character called “Nameless” join the tournament for the biggest roster in KOF history.
- Revamped graphics and background music – Every demo screen, cutscene and winning screen has been completely overhauled. Additionally, the game’s soundtrack has been remastered for even more intense matches.
- Many new and old movements added – In addition to the new movements and special movements created especially for this title, many old movements are returning in KOF 2002 UM. Additionally, game mechanics and character abilities have been redesigned.
- Big upgrade from MAX and MX2 mode – All the desperation sets in The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match can now be canceled at any time via the “MAX Mode” system. The ultimate “MAX 2” movements are even brighter and easier to use.
