TAMPA, FL (FOX 13) – The Tampa-based Laser Spine Institute has announced its closure, leaving hundreds of jobless employees.
The company announced on Friday that it would cease operations with immediate effect, citing financial difficulties.
The closure affects workers at the company's surgical center in Tampa and other sites in Ohio, Arizona and Missouri.
"More than 500 employees in Tampa, Cincinnati, Scottsdale and St. Louis have been briefed this afternoon," the company said in a statement to FOX 13.
The Laser Spine Institute, specializing in minimally invasive spine surgery, said it now wanted to inform all patients about to undergo surgery to shut down the company. The company said it would provide facilities for all patients requiring postoperative care.
"I am deeply grateful to our dedicated, dedicated staff, who have stood up to us all along our journey and who have worked tirelessly to help us navigate the ship," said Jake Brace, CEO of Laser Spine Institute.
