The Last of Us Part 2 Unearthed a Clue About Battle Royale

[ad_1]

Could fans of Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us 2 get a battle royale mode soon? The new unearthed assets of The Last of Us Part 2 hint at an unused Battle Royale map – which would add even more replay value to the game.

Here’s a video showing these unearthed multiplayer resources in action, from the Battle Royale map to items that could have been used in the mode!

While these assets show a lot of promise and give fans hope that a new Factions multiplayer mode may be on the way, nothing official has been announced and these are just files found in the existing version of The Last of Us Part 2. In fact, there are many places that fans who have played the game will be familiar with – from the Jackson Music Center to the Boathouse and Port 66 near where Ellie meets Abby and her friends. Of course, these are obviously places in the game that players visit in the story, and reusing those areas only makes sense when developing areas for a Battle Royale style multiplayer.

You can view the unearthed map as well as some screens of the locations below.

Speaking of multiplayer stuff, Naughty Dog has opened a position for a Multiplayer Economy Designer and you can read about it here.

Ditto for all dataminated information, treat that with a grain of salt. It’s possible that this was something in development before it was dropped, or maybe something the developers are working on right now. While the battle royale formula was performed to the death, the one based on The Last of Us universe is quite intriguing, right?

The Last of Us Part 2 is out now on PS4 and PS5. You can check out our review of the game here and see why it’s one of the best PS4 games of all time.
