The Last of Us TV Show’s massive budget reportedly revealed

HBO the Last of Us TV show apparently works with a huge budget. Since the series was announced in November, we haven’t seen or heard much about Naughty Dog’s adaptation of the popular PlayStation series. However, with production starting this month, that should start to change very quickly. In fact, a few weeks ago we got our first photo shoot. Unfortunately, that set photo wasn’t followed by anything juicy, but we have new details – albeit unofficial – about the series.

As you may know, the show is filmed in the Great White North, also known as Canada, the northern neighbor of the United States of America. And according to IATSE 212 President Damian Petti, the production is the largest in the country’s history. In other words, HBO will grow.

To that end, Petti reveals that the series has five art directors and “an army of hundreds of techies,” who will all be working in Alberta for the next 12 months while the series films.

The last of us, who is starting photography this week, is indeed a monster, “said Petti.” He has five art directors and employs an army of hundreds of technicians. He had six months of preparation and filming (in Alberta) for 12 months. “

On top of that, Petti announced a huge budget that will “probably” be “the biggest filming project in Canada,” which is no small feat.

“This project is well above the eight figure per episode mark,” said Petti, “so there is a multiplier effect on our economy in terms of impact. Hundreds of related businesses are benefiting from the plethora of work.”

If those numbers are right, then HBO is wasting a lot of money making sure the series doesn’t end like most TV shows and movies based on video games: bad. That said, none of this is official horse mouth information, so be sure to take it with a grain of salt or two.

As always, feel free to leave a comment or two to let us know what you think or, alternatively, hit me up on Twitter. @Tyler_Fischer_ and keep me posted there. Are you excited for The last of us from HBO?
