Texas police released the name of the officer who shot a 44 – year – old woman Monday night outside her apartment complex in the Houston area.
Baytown police announced that Juan Delacruz had shot and killed Pamela Turner, an African-American woman whose family has learned that she has paranoid schizophrenia. Police said that the Hispanic officer had shot Turner after electrocuting him with his own taser during a fight.
A spectator filmed the shooting, but the police only identified his name by Delacruz on Thursday.
A lawyer from Turner's family said Thursday that Delacruz was living in the same apartment complex as the woman and was aware of her mental illness.
According to the police, Delacruz is a 11-year-old Baytown Veteran and is on paid administrative leave.

One woman said that a policeman had harassed his cousin more than 10 times in their apartment located in the Houston area before he finally pulled on it.
Antoinette Dorsey-James, a first cousin of Pamela Turner, told The Associated Press on Thursday that Turner had told her loved ones that every time she met with the director of the complex, the officer would show up at her apartment and disturbed her.
Turner's family says that Turner and the policeman lived in the same compound and that Turner knew him by name.
The Harris County Court records show that Turner was charged with mischief and aggression on April 24, after a physical confrontation with the apartment complex manager following an eviction notice.
The resort management did not return a call for comments on Thursday.
Baytown Police announced that an officer had shot Turner on Monday during an attempted arrest.
