In an interview with USG, Emilia Schatz, chief designer of the Naughty Dog game, explained the decision not to include the multiplayer mode in the highly anticipated sequel to The Last of Us. "We focus on the experience of A single player, so we are only creating a game for a player, "said Schatz.
The news is a surprise, as Anthony Newman, co-director of The Last of Us 2, told Polygon in a 2018 interview that there would be a multiplayer mode in the sequel. The Last of Us 2 will be released on February 21, 2020 on PlayStation 4.
