The lawyer R. Kelly strikes Kim Foxx and Michael Avenatti weigh

11:34 PT – Michael Avenatti plunged into Jussie Smollett's drama in Chicago, claiming that he had almost been directly involved when the case had reached its peak in February. Avenatti explains – in a statement that he posted and then removed from Twitter – that the council of Osundairo's brothers contacted him to see if he could potentially help them.

Avenatti says that he finally refused, but along the way … he contacted Kim Foxx to inform him of his possible involvement as a courtesy. He insists that this is not a problem because he claims it is a routine.

There is more – Avenatti blames R. Kelly's lawyer, Steven Greenberg, for stating that SG is trying to settle the Kelly case by personally attacking Avenatti for his own legal problems. In addition, Avenatti says Greenberg "is trying to create a smokescreen to hijack the mountain of evidence," says Avenatti.

Avenatti says the evidence will speak for itself, adding that he hoped that Kim Foxx and his co. will do justice to Kelly's alleged victims. He goes further by praising her, saying that she and her staff are "extremely professional, impartial and committed to justice".

It's almost a counter word to Greenberg's claim that the Foxx office is barely working in chaos in the aftermath of the Jussie affair, which has been rejected since.

Kelly's lawyer, Steven Greenberg, tells the texts of TMZ … Foxx to a colleague – in which she implicitly referred to her client as a pedo to compare her case to Jussie Smollettwas outrageous, knowing that Kelly had not been found guilty of such a crime.

Greenberg says Foxx leaves personal prejudices coloring her way of characterizing Kelly's case – which she says was a far bigger case than Jussie's in his correspondence it was made public on Tuesday.

As we reported … Foxx called Jussie a "celebrity washed"who had been slapped with 16 counts, while indirectly comparing that to R. Kelly only getting accused of 10 counts of indictment … saying that there was a gap there in terms of priorities.

Of course, his office eventually abandoned all the charges against Jussie.

Greenberg tells us that the fact that Foxx even has this type of conversation with his staff in this way paints a more general picture of the Cook County Attorney's Office … he calls it "dysfunctional and chaotic." He also thinks that Foxx lacks objectivity.

That said, Greenberg said he was not calling for Foxx's removal of the Kelly case at the moment. He tells us that he has evidence and that he discovers that he wants to get his hands on it before doing anything.

Greenberg adds … once he and his team have everything they need, they'll decide what to ask about Foxx's involvement.
